Madame Bovary ( Book 3)

Madame Bovary is a novel by Gustave Flaubert that was attacked for obscenity by public prosecutors when it was first serialised in La Revue de Paris between 1 October 1856 and 15 December 1856. It became a bestseller in book form in April 1857, and now stands virtually unchallenged not only as a seminal work of realism but as one of the most influential novels ever written.

The novel focuses on a doctor's wife, Emma Bovary is married to the reliable but uninteresting Charles. She is bored and finds passion in a series of affairs. This exciting life demnads more money then Charles can give her. Soon Emma's dream lead to destruction with some bad things happened.

I enjoyed reading this book and I like it. I think it was an interesting story. I would reccomend this book to other friends.

He Knows Too Much

When I chose this book, I fascinated from the title.

...

On the other hand, I had some problems to read this book.

First of all, it has a lot of chapters, seventeenth, so I could not interested in the amount. Second, the background is about India and I am not familiar about India. As you can see, you can make sure that the cover image of the book is a kind of Indian sculpture. Third, the main character is not a handsome, rich man. For these reasons, I disliked reading this book at first.

However, whenever I read this book, I got some interests gradually. This story was about a man and he was taken early retirement from his company. He did a good job and even though he increased the company's profit. After that, he disappointed a lot and he drank everyday. One day, his old friend, Ramu who works for the company, sent letter to him about some suspection. The main character Dick was starting to find some evidences about his inadequate early retirement.

While he was finding the tracks, he had fallen in love with a woman. They got along with each other and they were involving with each other. Finally, he found all of the evidence to kick for bad people. However, he did not do that because his girlfriend said to him, " I told you before, we should leave judgment to God. People like that are punished by what they become. Leave it that, and don't make innocent people suffer."

I believe that this book is really interesting. If you have some time, you can read this book.

Finally one morning she received a call from Steven who wanted to talk about something that Tristan told him.....what Steven wanted to talk about?

In the third story a banker was keeping the national crown in his house which belong to one of his customers and in the same night some of the diamonds on the crown was taken and the crown it self was damaged too so Holmes job is find the thief and the diamonds.

Because Adams was very old and he was all the kids’ father and all the women’s husband in that island, so those two captains gave up catching him back to England. I think this book is interesting. Pride and Prejudice (Book 3)

Pride and Prejudicethat is my third book, it is a famous story and an intersting book. The leading roles are Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy.

Elizabeth Bennet is a country gentleman's daughter in 19th Century England. She is one of five daughters, a plight that her father bears as best he can with common sense and a general disinterest in the silliness of his daughters. Elizabeth is his favorite because of her level-headed approach to life when his own wife's greatest concern is getting her daughters married off to well-established gentlemen. Only Jane, Elizabeth's older sister, is nearly as sensible and practical as Elizabeth, but Jane is also the beauty of the family, and therefore, Mrs. Bennet's highest hope for a good match.

When Mr. Bingley, a young gentleman of London, takes a country estate near to the Bennet's home, Mrs. Bennet begins her match-making schemes without any trace of subtlety or dignity. Despite Mrs. Bennet's embarassing interference, Mr. Bingley and Jane become fond of one another. Mr. Darcy, who has accompanied Bingley to the country, begins his acquaintance with Elizabeth, her family, and their neighbors with smug condescension and proud distaste for the all of the country people. Elizabeth, learning of his dislike, makes it a point to match his disgust with her own venom. She also hears from a soldier that she has a fondness for that Darcy has misused the man. Without thinking through the story, Elizabeth immediately seizes upon it as another, more concrete reason to hate Mr. Darcy. She contradicts and argues with Darcy each time they meet, but somewhere along the way he begins to like Elizabeth.

What is going on? If Elizabeth will marry with Mr. Dancy?

Staying Together (Book Club 3)

This book is written in a very simple style. The words selection is limited. It is Easy to understand. It’s about a young Japanese couple (Ikuko and Hiroshi) who had to separate because the girl wanted to study English overseas. In Birmingham where she studied English, Ikuko fell in love with a man (Bernard, who already had two kids) from Zambia. They tried to stay together in Zambia for couple weeks. With the kids, house keeping, climate, and local condition, she decided that that life in Zambia was not for her.

At the end Ikuko and Bernard decided to separate, and Ikuko finally married Horoshi.

The Story about love which involved people from different continent kept continuing within generations.

This book doesn't have dramatic events, that makes it less interesting to read. However it's still good for ESL student to learn about new vocabulary.

book three3~ les miserables ~

the story Les Misérables has many parts, but the thread that binds them together is the story of the ex-convict Jean Valjean who becomes a force for good in the world, but cannot escape his past. The story starts in 1815, in Toulon. After five years of imprisonment in the bagne of Toulon for stealing bread for his starving sister and her family, and fourteen more for numerous attempts to escape, the peasant called Jean Valjean is released, and he begin his new life. but at the beginning, he was not that good because he kept steal people's thing. but after that he regrect and was planning to say sorry to the people that he has stolen things from. and later he marry and has children and so on. i have read this book before, but it was chinese. and i think this was very famous novel in 19th century because everybody know it. anyway, this is a book about a sad story, and i always read sad story, so it's ok for me.

High Life, Low life (Book 3)

The book was written by Alan Battersby. It is thriller. The story happened at Grand Central Station, New York in early morning in mid-July. Nat, a private investigator, saved an old woman who was Annie, one of the homeless people at the station. Nat helped Annie to see her son Jackie before she would have died. Annie left Jackie a surprising present to give him a good future. Nat didn’t want to become a millionaire from Whithaket. However, Whithaket was murdered, and Nat found the killer, who was Whithaket’s maid, Martha.
I liked this book because it was interesting, well-written, and mysterious. First, I wanted to know what present Annie gave Jackie, who the killer was, and why it happened. These things kept me interested in the book. Second, I liked these words, sentences, and paragraphs. They could improve my reading and writing because the author wrote them well. Third, after reading the book, I became aware of this story’s mystery. Martha murdered Whithaket for getting her money to become a millionaire, so Martha was in jail. Annie left Jackie a present that was a lot of money. Jackie put the money for a building, which provided comfortable rooms for the homeless women of this city.
This book tells us: If we are in the low life, we shouldn’t steal or murder for getting money that is a terrible crime; if we are in the high life, we should put our money to help poor people improve their lives. That is good idea because we will have fun.

In the Shadow of the Mountain (Book 3)

Clare Newton is a well- experienced journalist in London. One day when she visits her mother’s house in England’s Lake District for family lunch, she receives a phone call from Switzerland. The officer announced to her that her grandfather’s dead body has appeared from the bottom of a glacier on the north side of the Matterhorn Mountain 74years after a climbing accident. Clare has decides to go to Zermatt in Switzerland in order to bring her grandfather, Edward. Then Clare’s mother, Marjorie shows two letters from Edward to his wife. These letters look like that Edward leave his family and declare that he never return to England. Neither Clare nor Marjorie knows this was true because Edward’s wife, Marjorie’s mother always described her beloved husband like a brave explorer. Since Clare is a journalist and a curious woman, she tries to gather information about Edward’s climbing accident. However, she feels like most of local people seem to hide something to her. Although she finally finds out the mountain guide who climbed the Matterhorn with Edward, that old man says he forgot about Edward. Clare is sure that this guide would remember it but hide. Can Clare find out the truth about his grandfather’s death? Would it be good for her and her family?

I like this story because Clare, who is over forty years old and a well- experienced journalist, looks her life over again while she gather memories of her grandfather. Though she saw her grandfather as a hero who was a great explorer, she gradually knows about Edward has a wonderful passion and he came to Zermatt in order to live as he really want to. Remembering the accident disturbs the old mountain guide’s peaceful life, but sharing the story and feeling gives new happiness to all of characters. I would like to recommend this book to other classmates.

Two Lives (book3)

Two Lives

Two lives that is my third book I chose in my Extensive Reading, this book is talking about Megan and Huw’s and their family’s life, the storey started in a small Welsh village of Tredonald. Megan and Huw grew up together. They were good friends until they became teenager, the friendship continued and they fall in love with each other. They thought they could be together forever, but the things not like they thought. After that many things were happen between them and them family. Huw moved to Canada with his father, while Megan still stayed at the small village. After Megan and her family moved to Canada, Megan she have Huw and her baby. A letter let Megan and Huw meet each other again in fifty year later. In that moment, Megan met Huw again in fifty years later, Megan known herself still love Huw. Megan has to design she wants her truelove and baby’s father or the man stay with her and get her happiness. It is difficult to design which way is good for her. This book wasn’t telling us which one she chose, but in the end they both are together again. I thought that is the good answer for the reader to guess. After I read this book, I thought that if I was Megan, I wouldn’t choose other lover because of promise. I also think that fifty years is pretty long. Actually, I am not sure the memory of their love could still clear after fifty years and the feeling of love never disappear between this fifty years. Sign!lover with a promise is a great lovely story. Two lives is a good book to read, the reading level is good enough for me to read. I hope everybody can enjoy this book.

Lorna Doone (Book 3)

The book was written by R. D. Blackmore. The story happened in 1673 in a valley of England. Young John Ridd, a farmer’s son, meets a gentle little girl called Lorna Doone. Seven years later they meet again, and fall in love. But the Doones are a family of robbers and murderers. One of them killed John’s father. John is ordered by the government to help stop a rebellion against the king and destroy the Doones. John did them and saved Lorna. I liked this book because it was interesting, well-written, and mysterious.
Before reading the book, I looked at the front and back cover which were interesting. The picture, pretty Lorna and story line attracted my attention. The main characters and story plot interested me. I wanted to know what John did and whether he can save Lorna. These things kept me interested in the book.
While reading the book, I thought it was easy to understand because it was well-written. I don’t understand many English books because they are difficult for me. This book is good for people who are learning English. It provides a step-by-step approach to the joys of reading for pleasure. Although there were some new words, I could understand the meaning of the word from its context. I really enjoyed reading this book because the author wrote it well.
After reading the book, I became aware of this story’s mystery. Lorna was not a Doone; she was the daughter of Lord Dugal. John stopped the rebellion against the King, destroyed the Doones, and saved Lorna. John and Lorna married and were very happy. I enjoyed this mystery story.
As a result, Lorna Doone was an interesting, well-written, and mysterious book. It kept me on the edge of my seat. I enjoyed the author’s writing and the mystery story. The story tell us: The robbers and murderers are always destroyed; people have rights to beat evil and get happy lives.

Book 3. The Man With Two Shadows

  • When I saw this book in the library, I just have a special feeling from my heart. What's the meaning of shadow? You see the title and you will think about it. In america I think shadow means ghost in general. This book was talking about the too many different kind of ghost. There're six stories in this book. These stories all tell us what kind of ghost does people know in the world, so it will be very interesting for young people.Ghost stories much more popular in the 1800s than in the 1700s. In this age people believed that science could explain everything. The first one was talking about a man who was died already, but he still return again to meet his friends and his family. The second one is a story about a young man lived by himself, but when he came to his house he always felt someone in his room. The last one was the son of th famous writer Thomas Hood's story. I really like all of these stories, because they made me think a lot. I also think every young man like me will perefer this book. I hope every student can borrow this book from library, this is the best book of three.

It is very interesting book for us to read. It is easy to understand and short. It wont cost us a long time to read this book, but you can learn many things after reading this book. Some movie producers made this book became movies, and they are also as good as this book.

Reaction:
The plot of this story is very attractive to read. When I finish reading the first few chapters, I can not stop thinking about what it will happen to Pip in the following chapters. “Great expectation” brings him luck; meanwhile, it is making him suffer a lot from it. Any future is not that easy to get or could be given by others. It is good for him finally gain his wealth by his hand, and start his own way of living.

i think the story was very good to research, it was in England, a young woman called Rachel Verinde got a large india diamond, and the diamond called the Moonstone, that was her eighteenth birthday. It was from her uncle, a corrupt English army officer who served in India. You know, that diamond was very expensive, how can a india army could owe a diamond like that. The diamond was one of the great religious significance as well as being enormously valuable, and three Hindu priests have dedicated their lives to recovering it. The story incorporates elements of the legendary origins of the Hope Diamond.
Rachel's eighteenth birthday is celebrated with a large party, whose guests include her beau Franklin Blake. She wears the Moonstone on her dress that evening for all to see, including some Indian jugglers who have called at the house. Later that night, the diamond is stolen from Rachel's bedroom. but who?? nobody knew, and Rachel was guessing that night's people were have someone who stolen her diamond.
The Indian jugglers are taken into custody but no stone is found. Rachel refuses to allow the police to question her or search her possessions, raising suspicions. The young housemaid, Rosanna, who happens to be in love with Franklin Blake, also acts suspiciously and then commits suicide by throwing herself into quicksand. Rachel rejects the attentions of Franklin Blake and leaves in an emotional turmoil for London. Now you see alot of infor you got from what i told you, so you can guess what is going on in this story.
